ABOUT NUBIA

Nubia DuVall Wilson is a published author, poet and journalist and the owner of Cielo Consulting, a boutique public relations and marketing agency. Her passion for poetry and short stories began at a young age and her professional writing career launched at Real Simple magazine in 2006. In May 2018, she published her second book, The Survivors Club, a supernatural novella inspired by her journey to heal as a survivor of childhood sexual abuse, which includes an epilogue from trauma expert Shari Botwin, LCSW, who was involved in the Bill Cosby trials in Philadelphia. She is using her novella to break through the silence around the high prevalence of child sexual abuse in the united states, especially among women of color, and the long-term effects of abuse into adulthood, such as PTSD (post-traumatic stress disorder). The Survivors Club donates 20% of each sale to two non-profits that are working hard to combat these issues: The New York Center for Children and Stop Child Predators. Through her healing process, she has learned about the importance of community and has since created a secret Facebook group for those who are survivors of abuse, who have PTSD and/or any other mental illness and need a safe space to connect with others.

Nubia graduated from Barnard College, Columbia University with a degree in English and a minor in Religion. She lives in New Jersey with her husband, daughter and son.
